INTRODUCTION TO ENGLISH
The Grade Gurus Introduction to English program is designed to give students a short 2 week or 4 week introductory course in English. Our aim is to teach students basic concepts and phrases. Students will get basic oral, listening and grammar skills and a good feel for their long-term learning potential for the English language.
All exams, classroom instruction and seminars will be delivered at our beautiful downtown campus, in the heart of the Montreal within walking distance of both Concordia and McGill Universities.
Our teachers and staff welcome students from all over the world into an English milieu. Students comfortably ease into our English classes and become immersed in the language and culture.
Assessment
Students will be assessed and placed according to their English level proficiency.
Classroom
In class, students will benefit from small class sizes with curriculum designed for the international student.
Certification
On location and in class, students will be given exams in accordance with the Ministry of education of Quebec to certify their B2 level of English.
Review & Prep
After program completion, students can opt into a 2 day intensive seminar with a focus on the oral skills needed to successful engage in job and government related interviews.

THE GRADE GURU DIFFERENCE
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)
A1
Recognizes familiar words and make simple sentences. Introduces self and answers basic questions.
Level One: 4-5 Weeks
Level Two: 4-5 Weeks
B2
Understands the main ideas of concrete or abstract topics in a complex text (including technical articles). Communicates with fluency during a conversation with a native speaker, speaking clearly and with detail on a number of subjects. Gives opinion with explanation.
Level Seven: 4-5 Weeks

A2
Understands common expressions that relate to self like family, shopping, environment. Uses basic and direct information and communicate with simple words.

C1
Understands a wide range of texts and understands nuances. Expresses self fluently without searching for words. Uses language in a number of contexts including professional, social or academic. Communicates clearly and can support a well-structured argument.

B1
Understands the main points of clear speech on subjects such as work, school, activities. Manages in situations when traveling to countries using the language. Produces simple texts and describes goals, desires and explanations.

Understands easily almost all that is read or heard. Can express self fluently and spontaneously with precise meaning.
